AI Regulation to Combat Digital Violence and Deepfakes - Reform to the Federal Criminal Code (Código Penal Federal) and General Law for Women's Access to a Violence-Free Life (Ley General de Acceso de las Mujeres a una Vida Libre de Violencia)

Initiative to reform the Código Penal Federal (Federal Criminal Code) and the Ley General de Acceso de las Mujeres a una Vida Libre de Violencia (General Law for Women's Access to a Violence-Free Life), aimed at penalizing forms of gender-based violence generated through the misuse of artificial intelligence technologies. Explicitly recognizes the creation, manipulation, storage, and distribution of false content (deepfakes) that sexualizes, demeans, or affects the dignity of real persons without their consent as a serious form of violence. Updates the Ley Olimpia (Olimpia Law) for the context of generative AI. If approved, Mexico would set a precedent by aligning its legislation with that of other nations such as the United Kingdom.
