General Law for the Use and Control of Artificial Intelligence in Public and Private Sectors

Initiative with bill to enact the Ley General para el Uso y Control de la Inteligencia Artificial en los Sectores Público y Privado (General Law for the Use and Control of Artificial Intelligence in Public and Private Sectors). Proposes creating a comprehensive law to regulate AI use in Mexico, both in public and private sectors. Covers areas of education (AI training at all levels), labor (workplace adaptation), environment (limits on water consumption for cooling AI data centers and reduction of carbon footprint), intellectual property (regulating the use of external art for AI models), health (AI-assisted diagnosis in public hospitals), and military and judicial sectors. It is the first initiative in Mexico to explicitly address the environmental impact of AI.
